Covid Testing For Travel

Covid Testing For Travel

You must have a COVID-19 virus test if you intend to travel internationally. This is regardless of citizenship or vaccination status. It should be done no later than one day before you fly or arrive by sea into the United States. Before you board your cruise or flight, you must present your negative result after Covid testing for travel.

Some things to consider:

  • You may travel with documentation that you have been cleared to travel if you have recently recovered from COVID-19. This includes a copy of your COVID-19 positive test for traveling results on a sample taken less than 90 days prior to departure from a foreign country , and a letter signed by a licensed healthcare provider.
  • COVID-19 Test Requirement to Travel Internationally to the United States
All passengers aged 2 and older who fly or cruise to the US from another country after 12.00 EST (5.01 GMT) December 6, 2021, must show documentation that they have recovered from COVID-19 within the last 90 days.

    • Passengers on sea or flying on air will be asked to sign an attestation confirming that the information provided is correct.
    • Passenger flying or sailing to the USA must present documentation of recovery or a negative COVID-19 result. All passengers must present a negative COVID-19 test result or documentation to prove their recovery before they can board an airline. The airline will not allow you to board if you do not present the test results or documentation of recovery.
  • You should not travel if you suspect or know you have COVID-19.
These should be included in the Covid testing for travel results:

    • Your name
    • Date and time of the test
    • Types of Covid tests
    • Negative results
    • Lab’s certification or CLIA number
    • The laboratory address

How can I best present my test results?

Either show the test results on a piece of paper, or call the terminal to report them.
If you are traveling by air or sea from another country, you must show proof of recovery or a negative Covid Test

Before traveling to the United States via air or sea, a negative COVID-19 must have been completed within one calendar-day. This is not a matter of hours, but days. You can take a Covid test if your flight leaves at noon Saturday.

Acceptable tests include antigen and NAAT. A rapid antigen test is recommended due to the faster turnaround time before flight.
If you have not been exposed to Covid-19 in the past 90 days, you can submit documentation of your recovery. These documents must include a positive Covid test no later than 90 calendar days before the flight and a letter from licensed health providers confirming that the passenger has been cleared to fly.

Important Note: Visitors who travel to the United States by land or sea do not need to undergo a testing process. These requirements are only applicable to air travel.
